Memorial Day Mayhem - Wrap up

I am the only one who went that hasn't written about Memorial Day Mayhem so I felt peer pressured to do so. I'm going to do it bullet point style. So don't expect any cohesion.

  • I'm not sure if you as a blog consuming audience know this about my wife, but she is not an experienced mariner. She has a slight fear of water. But she tries for me and it's one of those things I love about her. But anyway, in an effort to broaden her boating horizon's I suggested she come with me on our friends catamaran out to the beach we were hanging out on. Also on a side note, I kind of dig the catamaran it's like laying on a waterbed with a sail attached to it. So we embark on our little journey and we get a third of the way out there and the wind completely dies. It's no where to be found. We are just sitting in the middle of the lake with boat whipping around us throwing wake all over the place. We were towing two Kayaks out to the beach as well and our friend was like "I'll tow us with the Kayaks!!". He might have been a little intoxicated and so I thought he was just kidding around, but he got out there and started rowing. After like 5 minutes or so Cora goes "maybe you should help him", so I went out there and started rowing as well. Once we got the towing configuration worked out we actually started hauling pretty well. In the below picture you can see out track. I even added a key for you to put it in perspective. I will tell you the next day it kind of hurt.

  • I took the new camera with us but I really didn't think I got anything sweet. So instead of making you look at them I'm giving you the option of clicking this link.

  • Wakeboarding I feel really good about so far this year ... which is awesome because I'll have less opportunity to do it this year. But I felt like there wasn't any lay off from last summer to this. I'm going in and out of wake easily and getting up with little effort. Next I need to start working on surface 180's or little jumps to start off with.

  • Something else that I am excited about, is that a lot of the couples that we went with were talking about getting together and getting a place on the lake. Which I think is exciting and I would love to be a part of. I've been a big proponent of this for a long time, but it's cool that a lot of people see the value of it. I think as we all get older we see it's someplace that would not only be neat for us, but also as kids pop into the picture.  This weekend there were kids every where and I was kind of jealous of all of them.  I would have loved to have had some place like that, it would have been awesome.  This will probably be my new free time vacuum because I would really like to at least see what the logistics would be. But what lake is the new question.   Suggestions??
  • I have an excellent sunburn. I mean even for a red head this is a pretty impressive burn. Usually I am in the water constantly ... because I love it, so I don't make a point to sunscreen my legs. The combination of manly leg hair and the cover of water usually stops them from getting burnt. But the perfect storm of them being exposed during the above kayak trip and the water being too cold to be in all the time led to an epic burn on the inside of my legs. I thought about posting a picture of it, but no one wants to see that.
